Fundraiser Effort a Hugh Success

Our recent fundraising effort to meet our Anonymous Donors’ challenge to raise $4000 in order to qualify for a $2000 matching contribution has been highly successful.  100% of our regular rowers contributed!  The largest contribution was $500, and there were several donations in the $250-300 range.  The contributions were made by sweep rowers, scullers, adaptive rowers and their families, and friends of the club, both rowers and non-rowers.  Many of the contributors are already heavily involved in LSRC, donating time, energy, and effort toward the success of the club as volunteers on the Board of Directors, toward the upkeep of our equipment, maintenance of the Cooper Street grounds, coaching the Juniors, organizing fundraising events, making it possible for the adaptive athletes to row and compete, and many more efforts.
We raised $4537, (with an additional pledge of $400 coming at the end of the month,) surpassing our goal, making an additional bonus matching gift from our Donors of $500 for oars within easy reach. We thank our Anonymous Donors for having the foresight to step forward, motivating us to embark on this effort.
Our stunning success has paid for the purchases of three club singles and a new quad, all of which have been heavily used this summer. We will use the additional funds for much needed sculling oars, and to maintain and improve our existing fleet.
I am thrilled and gratified to see scullers venturing out onto the lake, using newly acquired skills and boats to enjoy the Lake Sunapee environment, hone their rowing skills, prepare for races, and stay rowing fit.
See you on the water!
